Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on court had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
